City Government
The City of Wilburton is governed by the Aldermanic form of government meaning its legislative body is composed of elected representatives from five (5) specific Wards, and the Chief Executive is a Mayor elected at large.
The Wilburton City Council is composed of the five (5) Ward representatives and enacts ordinances, inquires into the operation of the City, creates and changes City departments as well as is the policy-making body for the City.
The Mayor, City Clerk/Treasurer, City Attorney, Chief of Police/City Marshall, and Director of Public Works also sit with the Council during Council Meetings lending their knowledge of their specific area of expertise.
Regular scheduled Council Meetings are held at 5:30 PM on the second (2nd) Thursday of every month at Wilburton City Hall inside the Council Chambers.
Mayor
Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Administrative Branch for the City of Wilburton and Chairman of the Wilburton Public Works Authority. This position is appointed by a City-wide election and the Mayor holds an elected position four (4) years. The current term for the Mayor is effective from April 2023 to April 2026.Visit Page
City Council
Serves as the legislative body of the City, the City Council serves as the voice for Wilburton citizens and their municipal government. All Council members are elected by qualified electors from within their designated Ward. Council Members serve a term of four (4) years. The current term for Ward representatives one (1), three (3), and five (5) is effective from April 2023 to April 2026. City Clerk / Treasurer

City Attorney
Serves as legal counsel for the City of Wilburton, as well as Legal Advisor to the Mayor, City Council, and all other City departments. This position is appointed by the Mayor and he/she attends all City Council Meetings.Visit Page
Chief of Police / City Marshall
Serves the City and its residents as general keeper of the peace and presides over the Police Department and its enforcement officers.
