Stay Safe Register Your Storm Shelter Today!

We are excited to launch a collaborative effort to improve emergency response in the aftermath of a storm. Emergency Responders across the Wilburton Area meet quarterly to improve communication and projects. This storm shelter registration is an initiative across multiple agencies to document residential storm shelters so that our responders know where to check after a storm has hit. This will improve response time and play a proactive role in ensuring citizens are able to get out of their shelter. Anyone in the Wilburton Fire Department District is welcome to register their shelter. We work with the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office, Latimer County Emergency Management, Wilburton Fire Department, Wilburton Police Department, Choctaw Nation, Pafford EMS and more.

Severe weather can strike with little warning, and when it does, every second matters. The City of Wilburton is encouraging all residents with storm shelters to register their location with local emergency responders. By registering, you ensure that first responders know exactly where to check in the aftermath of a storm, helping them reach you faster when it matters most.

This simple step can make a life-saving difference. After a storm passes, emergency teams work quickly to check on residents, but without a registered shelter, they may not know where to look. Registering your shelter gives you and your loved ones an added layer of security, peace of mind, and connection to those working to protect the community. It’s a small action that helps ensure no one is overlooked when help is needed most.
